Jughead shows up at the Jubilee for Betty’s speech and is the first to clap when she is done. The four friends meet at Pop’s Diner for milkshakes before separating. Betty and Jughead got to FP’s trailer, where Jughead is now living. Jughead says he loves her and Betty says she loves him to. The two begin to make out and begin to take off their clothes, but are interrupted by a knock at the door. It’s the Southside Serpents and they want to offer Jughead membership in their gang.

During the weekend, Veronica tries to plead with her father to stop the trial but he refuses. She also tries to sneak into a juror’s room but is caught by the sheriff and scolded by her parents. Veronica’s parents refuse to pay the ransom, so Veronica calls Nick and lies about having the money. Because it’s not enough, Nick says he wants a night with Veronica and she agrees. Hiram isn’t a fan of Archie so Archie asks Veronica what he can do to impress her father.
Season 2, Episode 19 (“Chapter Thirty-Two: Prisoners”)
Throughout the five seasons of Riverdale, there have been numerous teases that, eventually, we would see Archie Comics’ iconic couple come to life on the small screen. After all of the back and forth throughout the series’ five seasons, it felt like the day would never come when the show would give Betty and Archie the chance to be in a committed romantic relationship. After failing to break through the barrier keeping them in town, Archie returns to Betty’s. Archie is still single, but he kisses Josie after the two sing together. During the party, Archie becomes overwhelmed and runs out. He later talks with Reggie who accidentally tells Archie about his kiss with Veronica. Archie later goes home to find Veronica crying from guilt on his bed.
Betty has been different ever since, referring to herself as psychically dismembered. However, Archie assures Betty that she’s not dismembered and that she did the right thing. Sometimes, he wonders why he’s still in Riverdale after everything that’s happened.
What was once a clever, noir-inspired murder mystery quickly unraveled into an absurd mess of nonsensical serial killer reveals, unexpected musical numbers, and fan-service-y ship wars. But what people who gave up on the series as it started going off the deep end don’t know is that the further it devolved into ridiculousness, the more fun it became to watch. By its final season, the once-grounded teen drama had gone completely off the rails — and it was all the better for it.
